Abstract
Technikos palikimas yra itin svarbi kultūros paveldo dalis, kuri iliustruoja pramoninio suklestėjimo pradžią, gyvenimo kokybės gerėjimą bei miestų panoramos, kraštovaizdžio ir socialinio gyvenimo pokyčius. Tačiau šių paveldo objektų nykimo procesas ypač spartėja, todėl jų tyrimai turėtų būti vienas iš šių dienų paveldosaugos prioritetų. Šiuolaikinė technikos (inžinerinio) paveldo samprata apima platų istorinių gamybos reliktų lauką: tai kraštovaizdžiai (gamyklų ir kasyklų teritorijos), vietovės, kelių, geležinkelių tinklai, infrastruktūra, įranga, produktai, įrengimai ir t. t.1 Tačiau Lietuvoje šios paveldo šakos sąraše vis dar vyrauja vėjo ir vandens malūnai, nors vėlesnio laikotarpio statinių, techninės įrangos Lietuvoje išlikę nemažai – ypač gausu geležinkelio paveldo išteklių.
This article reviews resources on the heritage of tsarist Russia in Kaunas and presents the peculiarities of the railway heritage of this period. First, it briefly discusses the development of railways in Lithuania and Kaunas. It then examines the urban features of the first stations and their functional areas. The second part of the article presents elements of infrastructure within the Kaunas railway station complex. These include elements built in the tsarist period that did not survive after the Second World War, such as passengers’ houses, with an analysis of their architectural expression and their similarities with other stations of that period. Water towers and their various types are also analysed.
