Abstract
- įtraukiant naujas auditorijas, iki tol nedalyvavusias kultūrinėse veiklose;
- įdiegiant į renginio koncepciją inovacijas;

The thesis analyses a topic of cultural audiences‘ development within a particular focus on the partnerships among organizations and its impact on audiences. The research itself questions whether the interdisciplinary projects are able to contribute in order to expand cultural audiences.
The goal of the research to analyse an importance of partnership and its impact on processes of audience development in art events.
The audience development is analysed from two angles: the theory and the practical cases. Through the analysis of documents for cultural policy, the research paper thoroughly discusses the increased importance of audience development, marking it as a new cultural topic in a context of the European cultural policy, in the documents for the Lithuanian cultural policy as well as in the strategy of Kaunas city‘s culture policy. The paper presents in detail the types of cultural audiences, the origin of the audience development term and its comprehension, the strategies and tools for audience development, including its research areas.
In order to analyse the importance of cooperation and its impact on the audience development, there were two particular cases invoked: “Manifesta” – the European Biennial of Contemporary Art (2012) and the “Moving Textile” – the 8th Kaunas Biennial (2011). There were specific qualitative methods in the study of organizations included: the first one included the interview with organizers and associates from the “Moving Textile”; the second one – a focus group discussion.
The research revealed that responsibly selected partnerships can be highly considered as having a positive impact on the cultural audiences addressing the following aspects:
- involving new audiences that did not participate in the cultural activities before;
- implementing innovations into the concept of event;
- ensuring a long-term and lasting audience development, the rapid dissemination of the project, etc.
The aspects of theory and study case revealed that artists and art curators, who seek to establish partnerships among different type of organizations, may become the creators of successful pilot project.
